DESTINATION

Avdou lies deep in the middle of the "Lagada" valley, right at the foot of the Lassithi plateau mountain range, 1 km from the lake of Aposelemi, 35 km from the city of Heraklion, with about 600 inhabitants. The earliest recorded reference to "Avdou" is in 1381, in a Venetian state document stating the area as a benefice belonging to Michel Quirino. Excavations in the area unearthed a building with mosaics, probably part of an extensive complex of an early-Christian basilica.The village is dotted with frescoed Byzantine churches.Near the Avdou settlement there are two caves, Faneromeni and Aghia Fotini, where archaeologists found artifacts dating back to the Neolithic period, in Minoan Crete when they were probably used as worship grounds. Avdou probably took its name from the prophet Havdeu whose church existed in nearby Kontaria.

Perfect!

Ik was hier een weekje alleen, ik had een maandje in between jobs. Wat een luxe en wat een comfort, heerlijk, super schoon. Vlakbij grote supermarkt. Vlakbij strandje en stadjes. De eigenaresse was vriendelijk en zei dat ik haar altijd mocht bellen, 24/7, omdat ik daar alleen was, dat vond ik heel lief!

Rust en echt vakantie!

Rust! Echt vakantie. Een prachtige plek om tot rust te komen en te genieten van de warmte en je vakantie. Het is van alle gemakken voorzien. Wij hadden een appartement aan het gezamenlijk zwembad. We deelden het zwembad met 6-8 andere mensen. Prima! Het appartement werd elke dag schoongemaakt en om de dag hadden we schone handdoeken. Ook badlakens voor bij het zwembad zijn aanwezig. Avdou ligt een beetje in het binnenland maar in 20 minuten ben je op het strand. Het was een half uurtje rijden vanaf het vliegveld. Echt een heerlijk plek om vaak naar terug te gaan! Eileen (de eigenaar) spreekt Nederlands en kan je helpen aan leuke restaurants, uitstapjes etc

Luxe appartementen in een mooie omgeving

Grote, luxe appartementen. Eigen zwembad, fijne ligstoelen. Erg rustig. Schoonmaak uitstekend. Handdoeken wissel om de dag. Roomservice mogelijk voor ontbijt, lunch of diner. Uitstekende kwaliteit.
Twintig minuten rijden naar kust (Malia). Half uur vanaf vliegveld. Vijf minuten naar de bakker en 20 minuten naar een niet al te grote supermarkt.
